Bishop Rudolph “Rudy” Colander was born July 7, 1942 in Suffolk (Nansemond County). He passed away on May 21, 2018. He is the son of the late Bishop Obadiah and DeJohnnie (Ricks) Colander.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Elder Linda M. Colander; three sons, Deric, Anthony (Nekol), Robert (Monica) and honorary son, Omar; five daughters, Paula (Keith), Vera, Antoinette, Angela, Natavia and honorary daughter, Carmel; grandsons, Corey, Mario, Donnie, Anthony, Trymayne, Jermaine, Deric Jr., Tyshan, Jermel, Ramon, Kamoni, Marquis, Rashan, Marcus, Phalen, Paris, Travon, Bobby, Dashan, Manoj, Rashmi and Amir; granddaughters, Annette, Lawanda, Jasmine, Deshawnta, Yahne, Lisa, Aishah, Kashae, Jazman and Arabella; several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; three brothers, Alfred (Jeanette), Ralph (Elizabeth) and John (Hortense); two sisters, Barbara (Willie) and Rita (Lee); two aunts, Harlena McGee and Margarette Colander; and a host of nephews, nieces, in-laws, cousins and other devoted family and friends.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Metropolitan Funeral Service, 5605 Portsmouth Blvd. A wake service will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 1, 2018, at Metropolitan Funeral Service. Condolences can be offered at www.metropolitanfuneralservice.com.
