King’s Fork High School softball team had two players make first team All-Region.

Madison Froemel and Cali Hinnant were both selected to the All-Region teams for their stellar play for King’s Fork this season. Froemel, a senior, finished on a strong note for her senior campaign.

Froemel finished the regular season with 31 hits, 30 RBIs and 29 runs scored. She even chipped in nine home runs.

“It is hard competition not only in the district but in the region as well,” she said. “With three Southeastern District teams in the region including ourselves, I knew I was going to have to step my game up individually and help my team win games.”

The senior might also be in the mix for either of the All-State teams as well with what she was able to do this year. Her main goal was to come into this season and accomplish more than she did last season. Last year, she made All-State, and she is hoping things go that way this year. King’s Fork season ended with second-round region loss to Great Bridge High School, but she felt good about what the team was able to accomplish this year.

“Of course, our season ended short but the team played hard, and that’s all anyone could ask for,” Froemel said.

Hinnant started on the mound as a freshman last season and took another step forward in her development this season. She was a first team All-Conference selection last season and was a first team All-Region selection this year. At the plate, she hit two home runs this season. There were other things Hinnant wanted to accomplish, but overall, she was happy with her season.

“I was super excited and happy to hear about the news,” she said. “I am very happy and proud of everything me and my team did this season. I wanted to beat a couple of teams that we didn’t this season, but overall, we had a good season. I’m just honored and proud to have been selected.”

The sophomore mentioned that she didn’t think much about any postseason accolades during the season; she just wanted to do what she could for her team. She is looking forward to improving on this season next year.
