Dorothy M. Parker, daughter of the late Joseph and Blanche P. Mayfield, was born Oct. 24, 1931, in Suffolk. She entered eternal rest on Friday, June 8, 2018, at Sentara Obici Hospital. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter R. Parker Sr.

She attended Booker T. Washington School and was employed with General Electric for 20 years until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of Saint Paul Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Walter R. Parker Jr.; granddaughter, Dr. Latousha P. Jackson (Mario), of Greensboro, N.C.; grandson, Walter R. Parker III (Mara), of Eastampton, N.J.; great-grandchildren, Noah, Zoe, Marlo, Pierce, Alexia and Liana; goddaughter, Archie Lyons; a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2018, at Saint Paul Church. Inurnment will take place in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home Inc.
