Jean Ives Cox, 93, passed away on June 18, 2018. She is predeceased by her parents, Ellis and Ruth Ives; and her husband, Marshall B. Cox.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Pamela Hirsch and husband, Steven, of Suffolk; sons, Marshall B. Cox Jr. and wife, Rebecca, of Suffolk, Shannon Cox and wife, Dotty, of Suffolk; sister, Katherine Griffin, of Virginia Beach; brother, Ellis Ives Jr., of Norfolk; grandchildren, Jessica Fielek and husband, Joshua, Vanessa Freihofer and husband, Jimmy, Christopher B. Cox and wife, Katherine, Matthew R. Cox, Bryan Cox and wife, Amy, and Ashley Cox; and five great-grandchildren, Margaret Cox, Henry Cox, Lily Fielek, Sadie Fielek and Heidi Freihofer.

Jean was a member of Oakland Christian Church. She was the founder of the Junior Scherzo Music Club. She belonged to Scherzo Music Club, Junto Women’s Club, Driver Book Club, Elizabeth River Art Club, Thoroughgood Music Club and Thoroughgood Garden Club. She played the organ and piano at Bayside Christian Church, in addition to teaching piano and watercolor painting. Jean participated in local and regional area art shows.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2018, at Oakland Christian Church, 5641 Godwin Blvd., Suffolk, VA 23432, with the Rev. Mary Anne Biggs officiating.
