The officer did not continue to pursue the vehicle, the release stated. However, the vehicle was found stopped on the interstate ramp, and the driver was seen fleeing from the vehicle on foot.

Additional officers were able to locate the subject, and it was found that the involved vehicle had been stolen from Chesapeake. A second involved subject was located shortly thereafter.

Following preliminary investigation, the two were identified as a 14-year-old from Norfolk and a 15-year-old from Portsmouth. They were released to the custody of a family member.

Petitions have been secured for eluding police, reckless driving, operating a motor vehicle without a license and curfew violation, the release stated.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be filed.
