Lowe still hitting high

Brandon Lowe has continued his hot hitting for the Durham Bulls.
About a month ago, the Suffolk native returned to the Hampton Roads area to play against the Tides. His team went on to take all three games of the series, and Lowe may have put together his best series of performances since his time with Durham.
With strong support in the stands, he put together 22 hits, three triples, eight RBIs and two home runs. Each game his slugging percentage was above .600.
So far through the month of July, he has four home runs, nine RBIs and 16 hits, with three home runs in his last four games. Friday night against the Buffalo Bisons, Lowe hit a three-run home run. That has put him at 12 home runs in 36 games he has played. Lowe always looks at his game as a way to get better. He enjoys his big performances but gives credit to his teammates, as he does all he can to try to help his team win. Between the two teams, he has played for this season he has a combined 20 home runs.
Last season, Durham, an affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, won the AAA National Championship. They currently have a four-game lead in their division and may have a chance to repeat as champions if Lowe continues to bring his A-game. He is currently tied for the home run lead on the team with his 12 but has played in fewer games.
“I’ve been feeling good,” Lowe said. “Just giving it my all and trying to help my team win.”
In his three years in the minors, Lowe has worked his way up from A to AAA. Lowe was named the Florida State League’s Most Valuable Player last year after batting .311/.403/.524 in 90 games with Class A Advanced Charlotte. After finishing 2017 with a monthlong stint in Double-A, Lowe returned to Montgomery to start this season and was named a Southern League All-Star after a first half in which he batted .299/.400/.508, leading to his call to Durham.
With his current path, Lowe could be called up to the majors at any time. It is easy to get caught up in the hype when playing well, but Lowe doesn’t let it distract him.
“Baseball is a very humbling game,” he said. “Once you start thinking there is nothing to learn or you don’t need to work or learn, it’s going to knock you flat on your back.”
