Solve a Friday night mystery

A killer evening for crime and mystery lovers is being arranged at the Suffolk Art Gallery, with no cost of admission for the public’s potential sleuths.

The Suffolk Public Library and Suffolk Art League will hold “Murder Mystery: Dying for Love” on Friday at the Suffolk Art Gallery, 118 Bosley Ave. The event is for participants ages 18 and older and will be from 7 to 9 p.m., with the doors opening at 6:45 p.m.

It will be different from the previous Murder Mystery Pizza Party collaboration between the library and art league, according to Angela Martin, the library’s program services coordinator. This year’s participants will be tasked with looking for clues in crime scenes and interrogation tapes.

The lead actor of the “Dying for Love” theater production was murdered, and the killer must be revealed. But it’s not all grim, Martin said.

“It’s something fun, and it’s a bit more comedy than horror I guess,” she said. “The interrogation videos are hilarious and the characters are really funny.”

Participants will enjoy light refreshments and drinks as they choose their suspects, and those who correctly identify the killer will be entered in a prize drawing. The art league will also host a cash bar with alcoholic beverages for the evening.

“It’s just going to be something different to do on a summer Friday night,” said Suffolk Art League Executive Director Linda Bunch. “Join us and figure out who did it.”
