George R. Williams

George R. Williams, 80, passed away Aug. 23, 2018. He was born in Southampton County, the son of the late Thomas Baxter Williams and Jamie Sarah English Williams. He was predeceased by his wife, Maria Schweidler Williams, and his brother, John Thomas Williams. George was a U.S. Army veteran. He later went on to work and retire after 61 years as a farmer.

George is survived by his longtime friend, William “Billy” Green.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018, at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery with the Rev. Scott Cornette officiating. A visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday night at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
