The Bulldogs shut out Western Branch High School Friday night on the road.

Coach Scottie Littles achieved a significant milestone — with the team’s 40-0 win over Western Branch, the Bulldogs have defeated every team in the district since he has been at King’s Fork. After two weeks off because of the bye, King’s Fork didn’t seem to miss a beat at Western Branch.

“We don’t ever want to take wins for granted,” Littles said. “It’s always good to get a win, and that’s a team we haven’t beat since I’ve been here. We still have some things to clean up, but I am very pleased with what we were able to do.”

The Bulldogs’ defense had five-plus turnovers Friday night to help them go to 2-0 on the season. Littles believes the shutout showed the team’s maturity and focus coming out of the bye week. Offensively, Leo Wethington ran for more than 150 yards and added three touchdowns.

“The team did a good job paying attention to the details,” Littles said. “They came out fast and physical early. We still aren’t at our best yet, but that will come. It’s a marathon, not a race.”

King’s Fork will host Hickory High School at 7 p.m. this Friday.
