Lakeland High School senior Allison Thompson has committed to play field hockey at Bridgewater College.
Playing college field hockey has been a dream of hers, and now she will have that opportunity. Thompson had been in consistent communication with the coaches at Bridgewater for a while. That relationship grew, and the coach really liked Thompson’s potential contribution to their program.
“She saw my growth in field hockey,” Thompson said. “She knew how far I had come in my career. I did an overnight with the team, and they welcomed me with open arms. The campus is beautiful, and the environment is super friendly.”
Thompson said she looked around at other schools and, though going through the process was tough, felt Bridgewater was the best place for her. She is close with her family, so they helped her in her decision to attend Bridgewater.
“My parents made sure whatever school I chose I would be comfortable with,” she said. “My mom went to a Bible camp there with her family years ago. So, knowing the campus held Christian activities was also a part of my decision.”
From the conversations she has had with her coaches, she will likely play defense for the Lady Eagles. However, Thompson feels the best player to be is the one that is most versatile. Wherever the coaches have her, she will give her all and play her best.
While she is in the middle of her senior season with Lakeland, Thompson wants to keep improving. She also hopes to have as much success as she can with her team this season.
“I love playing with these girls, and I would love to see them go far in their careers,” she said.
