On the morning of Sunday, Sept. 30, 2018, the angel of silence came into his home and with chilly fingers sealed the lips of a loving husband and father, James Olden Daye. His soul winged its flight from this world of sin, sorrow and pain to a place of eternal rest. James was the proud son of the late John Olden and Iona Jessup Daye of Northumberland County, Heathsville, of Dec. 16, 1936.
James leaves to cherish his precious memories, his wife of 58 years, Mildred Walden Daye; two sons, James Ricardo Daye (Christine), of Orlando, Fla., and Gregory Theron Daye (Renee’), of Richmond; one sister-in-law, Delphenia W. Brandon; one brother-in-law, Warrick Kenneth Walden (Edna); four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 6100 Holy Neck Road, Suffolk. The Rev. Dr. William L. Lang will deliver the message of comfort. He will be laid to rest in Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home Inc.
