The Bulldogs took their second loss of the season after a 41-13 road loss to Indian River High School.
The King’s Fork High School football team is 5-2 for the season after a tough loss to Indian River. The Braves came into Friday night’s matchup undefeated, and their momentum in the second half pushed the Braves forward.
A turnover early in the first quarter put the Bulldogs behind 6-0. A malfunctioned snap allowed the Braves to score off of the turnover, but they couldn’t convert for the extra point.
The Bulldogs didn’t let the turnover ruin the game. They were making good plays in the first quarter but couldn’t get on the scoreboard trailing 6-0 after one.
The Bulldogs went into the second quarter and regained the lead. A Marc Dyer to Quashawn Jackson touchdown connection put the Bulldogs up 7-6 after the extra point was converted. King’s Fork sustained the lead heading into halftime.
In the second half, Indian River scored 28 straight points to jump out to a 34-7 lead. A late touchdown stopped the bleeding for the Bulldogs before Indian River scored again.
“It was a tale of two halves,” coach Scottie Littles said. “If we could sustain how we were playing in the first half maybe things could have gone differently. Credit to them they made some plays. We’ve got to continue to learn and get better.”
King’s Fork will get ready for rival Lakeland High School next week.
