Cydney Nichols is set to lead her team for the second consecutive soccer season at North Carolina Wesleyan.
The King’s Fork High School standout has been having an impressive sophomore campaign for North Carolina Wesleyan women’s soccer team. She currently leads the team in total points, with 15, and with goals scored with five. There are a few games left in the season, and Nichols has the team lead in points by five.
NCW’s record is currently 4-6-1; however, Nichols has been a bright spot. Last year as a freshman, she earned All-Conference honors and has a chance to do it again this year. During her freshman season, she finished with 10 goals and 21 points.
Before the season, Nichols spoke about surpassing what she did last year. Because she had gained more confidence, she felt like her sophomore year was going to be another step up. She has always had high expectations for herself, so she knew coming into this season she’d have to be better.
At King’s Fork High School, Nichols was a multi-sport star. She lettered in volleyball, basketball and soccer. In her last season at King’s Fork in the spring of 2017, she set the record for most career goals at King’s Fork with more than 100.
