Alice Julia Wilkins Forrester

Alice Julia Wilkins Forrester, 90, passed away Oct. 23, 2018. She was born in Nansemond County, the daughter of the late Arthur and Arie Wilkins. She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Richard Edgar Forrester Sr., and brothers, Arthur S. Wilkins and James W. Wilkins. Alice drove a school bus for Suffolk Public Schools for 12 years. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, teaching first aid and CPR for numerous years. She was a member of the Suffolk Church of God of Prophecy for more than 40 years and before that a member of Bethlehem Christian Church for years.

Alice is survived by her children and their spouses, Richard “Ricky” E. Forrester Jr. (Nancy), Arthur “Art” C. Forrester Sr. (Patricia), Alice Beaton (Jerry), Neal A. Forrester (Trudy), Holly L. Forrester (Tim); grandchildren and their spouses, Amy (Luke), Kristin, Carson (Leslie), Leah, Stephanie, Jacob and Noah; great-grandchildren, Ben, Ethan, Emily, Jenna, Millie, Nix and Bella; brother, Charles “Jeter” Wilkins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2018, at Holly Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Ben Fulton and the Rev. Matt Winters officiating. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Western Tidewater Walk to End Alzheimer’s “Team Richard” or to the Suffolk Church of God of Prophecy. Although she didn’t have Alzheimer’s, she was a Grand Champion Fundraiser in memory of her husband. Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
