Suffolk Police have made an arrest following an aggravated domestic assault that occurred Sunday morning.

David Paul Rice, 52, was arrested Tuesday evening on charges including attempted first-degree murder, abduction by force, third offense domestic assault, aggravated malicious wounding, and shoot, stab, cut or wound with intent to maim or kill.

The incident was reported at 5:20 a.m. Sunday in the 2000 block of Kilby Lane. First responders located Rice suffering from a gunshot wound and an adult female suffering from a stab wound, the press release stated.

Both were taken to hospitals for treatment of their injuries.

Further investigation found that the woman had been stabbed and shot Rice in self-defense, the press release stated.

The woman has been released from the hospital after treatment for serious injuries and isn’t facing any criminal charges, the press release stated.
