One person was airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Tuesday evening following a crash in the 3500 block of Carolina Road.

The crash was reported at 4:02 p.m., according to a city press release. The Toyota pickup truck left the roadway and struck a tree.

Suffolk Police and Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to the crash and extricated the adult male victim. He was airlifted with injuries not considered life-threatening.

The roadway was closed for about an hour following the crash.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
