Doris A. Gardner passed away on Nov. 19, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Emmit and Gladys Umphlett. She is also preceded in death by her son, Johnny Nathan Gardner.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Deborah A. Manning (Gleen), of Greenville, N.C.; grandchildren, Darren Gardner, Stephen Gardner, Andrea Hess, Bryan Grady; and four great-grandchildren.

Ms. Gardner was a charter member of Wilroy Baptist Church and a member of Fellowship Sunday School classes.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2018, at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, with the Rev. Tim Rawls and Wayne Carter officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at Holly Lawn Cemetery. In her memory, memorial donations may be made to Wilroy Baptist Church.
