Senior Bulldog Devin Chambliss has committed to play his college football at Alabama State University.

Chambliss, a senior standout, described his recruiting process as a roller coaster but is thankful to have decided on his next home. Chambliss made his decision after visiting Alabama State.

“My decision was made after I took my first official visit there,” he said. “The city of Montgomery has a lot of history within itself. I liked the campus, and I really liked how they graduate their players early and help them academically.”

ASU was the first NCAA Division I program to make an offer to Chambliss last season. From then on, they became the front-runner, because Chambliss felt like they were the first to believe in him. His mother liked the school when they visited, and that also made the decision even easier for Chambliss.

ASU recently finished up its 2018 season with a 4-7 record. They played well at home, with three of their four wins coming at home. Chambliss says the coaching staff plans to play him at linebacker, which is where he spent most of his time for King’s Fork.

The senior helped lead King’s Fork to a 6-6 record this season and an appearance in the regional semifinal game. He was also an integral part of the Bulldog team that was Southeastern District champion and regional runner-up in 2017. He was an all-district and all-region linebacker in his time for the Bulldogs.

“The season didn’t go as well as I would have liked it to from a team standpoint, but my senior season helped me become a better leader, player and person than I have ever been,” he said.

Chambliss has plans to major in business management.
