Cavs win second in a row

The Lakeland High School basketball team picked up a win over Thomas Jefferson High School last Saturday afternoon to go to 2-0.

After starting the season off with a home win over Hickory High School last Friday, Lakeland traveled to Richmond Saturday. The Cavs took on Thomas Jefferson in a Richmond showcase that featured different teams throughout Virginia.

Lakeland took a 77-50 win for the second of the year. Clint Wright Jr. led the way in scoring for the second straight game with 18 points, including four three-pointers. Raymond Bellamy was selected the game’s MVP after posting five points, eight assists and eight rebounds.

The Cavaliers will look to add to their hot start Tuesday night when they take on Deep Creek High School on the road at 7 p.m.
