The Faculty Award recognizes a faculty member for exceptional dedication to Honors College members through teaching, advising, and mentoring. This year, Dr. Corina Wack, of Murfreesboro, N.C., associate professor of biology, received the honor.

The Honors College offers attractive and challenging opportunities for intellectual growth to well-prepared and highly motivated students. The college has both curricular and extracurricular components. Chowan honors students complete requirements that include honors-enriched courses.

Honors courses emphasize teaching students to articulate an understanding of a given field, to relate that field of knowledge to others, to think independently and to write and speak clearly and cogently. Classes are generally smaller than usual and provide opportunities for intensive class discussion and innovative teaching. Honors College graduates earn a special designation on their diplomas and transcripts.
