Camary Harris earned her first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week Award.
The former King’s Fork High School girls’ basketball standout has gotten off to a strong start as a freshman at Bethune-Cookman University. Harris is finding ways to stand out, and it is getting noticed. She was selected the MEAC ROTW after putting up 11 points in BCU’s 74-59 win over Flagler College.
It was Harris’ first collegiate start. The BCU freshman is starting to get better as the season goes on, as she was able to make her way into the starting lineup eight games into the season. Right now, she is averaging around three points per game with 13 minutes of action per game. Against Flagler, she played a career-high 34 minutes.
Harris signed to BCU in August of 2017. BCU sits at 5-3 at the moment.
At King’s Fork, Harris was a big part of the Lady Bulldog teams who were in state title contention the last few seasons. In the Lady Bulldogs’ only state championship appearance during the 2016-2017 season, her game-winning shot was called off, which would have given the Lady Bulldogs their first-ever state title. During her senior season, she helped lead the Lady Bulldogs to the state semifinals. At King’s Fork, she was a first team All-District, All-Region and All-State player.
