The Suffolk Christian Academy boys’ basketball team got its first wins of the season over the weekend, going 2-0 in the Victory Christian New Year tournament in Elizabeth City, N.C.
The two games SCA played in the tournament marked the first two wins of the season for the program.
“It was a big confidence-building tournament for us,” Coach David Daniels said. “It’s just good getting on the right side of things to start the year. We just want to continue to keep taking the next step forward.”
SCA grabbed wins over both Heritage Christian Academy and Bethel Christian. Daniels liked, in particular, the things SCA was able to do on the offensive end. They know they are still a work in progress, but Daniels believes those two games can be a big boost for the rest of the season for the Knights.
“I told the guys this tournament could be a launching point for our win streak going forward,” Daniels said. “We just want to continue to keep taking things one game at a time.”
R.J. Rennie was the tournament MVP for the Knights, with Cody Ferguson making the all-tournament team. SCA had a solid team effort getting contributions all the way around.
SCA will take on Virginia Beach Friends Tuesday night.
