King’s Fork High School senior standout Qua’Shaun Jackson has committed to play football at the Apprentice School.

Jackson said his recruiting process was fun and though he had interest from other schools, he believed that the Apprentice School in Newport News was the best fit for him.

“I took a couple of visits and went on campuses to meet coaches,” Jackson said. “I was recruited by a lot of good programs, but I felt like the Apprentice School is what was best for me now and in the future.”

Jackson said he has been active with the Apprentice School since he was a sophomore. Since then, he has built a relationship with the coaching staff that ultimately helped him make his decision to attend there.

Last season, the Apprentice School won the National Club Football Association Championship. They went 9-3 this season, and they compete in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association.

Jackson said he is happy he will still be playing close to home. His parents were right by his side when he was visiting colleges and were happy with whatever school he decided to attend.

Jackson was selected All-District and All-Region for his play this season. He scored three touchdowns on a South Hampton Roads-high seven interceptions this season. To go along with the interception, he added 65 tackles. On the offensive side, he had 422 receiving yards. The senior Bulldog has the opportunity to come in and make an impact right away in the Builders’ program.
