Devin Chambliss and Jay’ree Hardy made their college signings official in a signing ceremony at King’s Fork High School Wednesday afternoon. Wednesday marked National Signing Day.

Hardy will head to Hampton University, while Chambliss will head to Alabama State University. Both players will get to compete at the NCAA Division I level.

Hardy committed to HU back in December during the early National Signing Day period. He explained that his recruiting process had both dark and bright days, but he enjoyed it overall. Old Dominion University was close to receiving Hardy’s services, but he felt more strongly about his relationship with Hampton.

“I felt like they were the best fit for me as far as academics and playing style,” Hardy said.

During his senior season for the Bulldogs, Hardy was honored on first team All-District and All-Region and finished with more than 15 sacks on the year. Hardy will see some familiar faces at Hampton, as its signing class last year featured a couple of Suffolk players.

Chambliss will head a little further down south, as he is signed with Alabama State. He committed back in November. After he took his official visit there, Chambliss had his mind made up that he was going to commit to ASU.

“The city of Montgomery has so much history there, and I liked the campus,” Chambliss said. “I really like how they graduate their players early and help them academically.”

During his senior campaign, Chambliss was also an All-District and All-Region performer.

Coach Scottie Littles was excited about the opportunities his players will have to play at the next level.

“Can’t say enough about our guys,” Littles said. “These two have earned everything they have received. I know those guys will go out and be great.”
