Reatha Mae Brogdon

The beloved Reatha Mae Brogdon peacefully passed away at her home at the age of 96 on Feb. 15, 2019.

Reatha Mae Brogdon was born Nov. 17, 1922, to Robert and Louvenia (Tate) Street. She received her formal education in Dunn, N.C. public school district.

Reatha Mae (Street) Brogdon was married to Lester Brogdon in December 1946. This 58-year union was blessed with four children. She was employed for 31 years by Planters Peanuts, where she remained a loyal and dedicated worker until she retired. She also was a member of the Local 26 Union for 65-plus years.

She is survived by three daughters, Gloria J. Jackson (Charles), Joyce A. Henry (Wayne) and Lester M. Corner (William, deceased); son, Lester L. Brogdon (Phyllis); sister, Johnnie M. Brown (Elma, deceased), grandchildren, William Corner, Anita Corner, Diane Corner, Tomakie N. Washington, Waynette E. Dudley and Erran A. Griffin, four great-grandchildren, Brittany Corner, Parkar B. Griffin, B. Wayne Wilson II and Caicee Corner-Crocker; and a host of family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at noon, Friday, Feb. 22, 2019, at First Baptist Church Mahan, 112 Mahan St., Suffolk. She will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home Inc.
