A shooting in the downtown area on Tuesday afternoon claimed one victim and injured another, according to police.

The shooting was reported at 4:10 p.m. at the Happy Shopper in the 600 block of East Washington Street, according to a city press release.

One adult male victim succumbed to his injuries, the press release stated. The man’s identity was being withheld pending notification of next of kin at press time.

The second adult male remains hospitalized suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the release.

The investigation is ongoing, and no further information is available for release at this time.
