Church coming together

In an unfortunate turn of events that has been going on for about 2,000 years, the collective church on earth often fails to live up to the perfect standard Jesus Christ set during His earthly ministry.
There is division, disagreement, segregation, exclusion and greed of all kinds. The church, after all, is 100 percent made up of — and led by — imperfect sinners.
Of course, the church does immeasurable good for the kingdom of God and for the community at large, but it seems only the negative things hit national news.
However, we’re always pleased to report on positive things like the upcoming services on Wednesdays during Lent, as well as Monday through Friday during Holy Week.
The Suffolk Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance and Suffolk Clergy United have organized the 15th anniversary of these services, which combine a number of churches and clergy of all races and denominations to come together for a series of services that include everyone.
This is what the church is supposed to be about, and we are pleased to see this Suffolk tradition continue.
The following is a listing of the services:
- Ash Wednesday, March 6 — St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 213 N. Main St., hosting; the Rev. Dr. Madelene Beard, Galatians United Church of Christ, preaching
