Paula Ann Kennedy Bishop, age 64, of 413 B S. Broad St., Suffolk, died in her slumber Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Maryview Medical Center. She was the only adopted child of her predeceased parents, Oscar and Rachael Wills Kennedy. Upon her birth, she was named in honor of her late grandfather and uncle, Paul August Kennedy Sr. and Paul A. Kennedy Jr.

She was employed at Sentara Bayside Hospital and Sentara Princess Anne Hospital for 20-plus years as a monitor surveillance technician. Prior to entering health care, she was employed briefly as an elementary art school teacher with Hampton City Schools. She was a graduate of Old Dominion University and attended Longwood University for two years. Paula achieved 4H All-Star Status in 1972 and received many awards showing her horses that she dearly loved. Her love of “Muggles” will surely whisk her away to an even more enchanting afterlife, as she also enjoyed the J.K. Rowling Harry Potter book series.

Paula leaves behind to cherish her memory one daughter, Melanie Kennedy Bishop, of Suffolk. A service of remembrance will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2019, at Main Street United Methodist Church, 202 N. Main St., Suffolk. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Main Street UMC, 202 N. Main St. Suffolk, VA 23434. The family is being served by R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory.
