Warriors continue to roll

The Nansemond River High School baseball team picked up its second win against a Class 6 team with a win over Great Bridge High School.
The Warriors baseball team went to 5-0 with the home win on Wednesday. Nansemond River didn’t allow Great Bridge to score until the final inning in their 5-2 win.
The Warriors got things started in the first inning, scoring two runs and extending their lead up as much as 5-0 after pulling in three runs in the sixth inning. Great Bridge scored two runs in the final inning to keep from being shut out.
Caleb Pittman got the win on the mound, striking out 11. Chris Mitchell went 2-3 with a hit and two RBIs.
Nansemond River has defeated both Western Branch High School and Great Bridge in a week’s span. Both are among the top teams in the state in their classification.
