NSA tops Fuqua

The Lady Saints picked up a big win when they took down Fuqua School in a close matchup last weekend.
The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy softball team is currently 9-0 this season. Their most recent win came against Fuqua, when NSA won 3-2.
It was a close game with a Fuqua team that is the reigning Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division III champions. NSA also recently shut out the reigning VISAA Division II champions, Isle of Wight Academy.
Fuqua took a 1-0 lead in the third inning. NSA responded by scoring a run in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. Fuqua scored once again in the sixth inning, but the Lady Saints were able to hold them off. Reese Byrd pitched a complete game, striking out four.
Jenna Elswick went 2-3, which included a home run and a double. Maya McGowan went 2-3 with an RBI.
NSA will have their Pink Game at home at 4:30 p.m. Friday against Southampton High School.
