Kroger customers and associates have worked together to raise $90,561 for the American Heart Association’s Virginia affiliate. The donation is a result of an icon campaign the grocer ran throughout February, which is American Heart Month.
“This generous donation from Kroger customers and associates will make a great impact on the work that we do here,” said Elizabeth Vail with the Virginia American Heart Association. “The funds will be used to support public health in communities throughout Virginia as we look to reduce deaths from cardiovascular disease and stroke.”
Kroger Mid-Atlantic donated $5.5 million to charity last year and nearly 3.3 million pounds of food to food bank partners.
“Our customers are generous with their support and we couldn’t make donations like this without them,” said Allison McGee, corporate affairs manager for Kroger’s Mid-Atlantic Division. “Our associates also love stepping up to contribute to these campaigns and often spend their time and money to support causes around the community.”
