Luther Lee Blizzard, 96, of Freeney Avenue, Suffolk, transitioned Sunday, March 31, 2019, at his residence. He was the son of the late Mary G. Outlaw Blizzard and Otis L. Blizzard. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dollie W. Blizzard; son, Phillip V. Blizzard; sister, Estella M. Blizzard; two brothers, Richard L. Blizzard and Louis O. Blizzard.

Luther served in the U.S. Navy, where he received an honorable discharge. He was also employed by Norfolk Naval Supply Center, where he retired after 25 years of faithful and dedicated service in 1982. He was a member of Canaan Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon Emeritus.

He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Phyllis B. Brogdon (Lester), Connie Hunter and Dawn Norman; five grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Aaron L. White; sister-in-law, Emma J. White; nieces, Frances B. White, Mary Estelle Goodman, Elizabeth Keller and Mildred Harrell; two nephews, Lucloce Williams Jr. and Tyrone Williams; and a host of cousins and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at noon, Friday, April 5, 2019, at Canaan Baptist Church, 2064 Nansemond Parkway, Suffolk. The Rev. Vernon Hairston Sr. will deliver the message of comfort. He will be laid to rest in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home Inc.
