The following are this week’s nominees for the Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week:

• Taylor Cherry, sophomore, Nansemond River softball: Cherry had a combined 17 strikeouts in two games against rivals Lakeland and King’s Fork.
• Noah Boone, sophomore, Lakeland baseball: Boone threw a no-hitter against Hopewell and went 2-for-3 in a win against Booker T. Washington.
• Jenna Elswick, sophomore, Nansemond-Suffolk Academy softball: Elswick went 2-for-3 with a home run in a win over Fuqua School.
