NR drops second in a row

The Nansemond River High School baseball team has dropped back-to-back games for the first time this season.
After facing a strong Grassfield High School team, the Warriors followed up with a tough Western Branch High School team Thursday evening. The matchup was highly anticipated by the two teams, as Nansemond River got the best of Western Branch the first time around. However, Western Branch split the season series 1-1 with Nansemond River with a 3-1 win.
Western Branch went up 1-0 in the second inning. The Warriors scored their only run in the fifth inning, in which Western Branch scored as well, taking a 2-1 lead after the fifth inning. They closed the game out in the sixth.
The Warriors totaled three hits, with Chris Mitchell going 2-3. Ben Grady and Gavin Gregory handled pitching duties with Grady taking the loss. Nansemond River is now 10-4 on the year.
