Lady Warriors top Great Bridge

The Nansemond River High School softball team got a quality win over Great Bridge High School Thursday evening.
The Lady Warriors defeated Great Bridge 3-1. In the last matchup between the two teams back in March, Great Bridge took the win 5-2.
Nansemond River’s lead started to shape in the third quarter, when Toni Jones hit to score Hayley Duckett.
The Lady Warriors scored their last two runs in the sixth inning. Great Bridge scored their only run of the game in the seventh inning, but the Lady Warriors held them off.
Er’ron Burton got the win in the circle by striking out seven. Jones finished 1-4 with an RBI. Misty Even and Shelby Knaak also added hits.
Nansemond River will take on Indian River High at home at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
