UPDATED 4:27 p.m.: The scene has been cleared.

Earlier: An overturned tractor-trailer on U.S. Route 58 is causing traffic backups on Friday afternoon.

The accident happened about 1:51 p.m. at the on-ramp from Pruden Boulevard eastbound.

The trailer was loaded with siding, and the load remained intact. The adult male driver was assessed and treated by Suffolk Fire & Rescue but did not require medical transport.

Route 58 eastbound will be closed at the Pruden Boulevard off-ramp until the tractor-trailer can be turned upright.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
