A 9-year old boy suffered “very minor injuries” after he ran into the side of a slow-moving vehicle in the parking lot of Pioneer Elementary School Thursday afternoon, according to Suffolk spokeswoman Diana Klink.

Emergency Communications received a call about the incident in the school’s parking lot off of Pioneer Road at 4:01 p.m., Klink said.

The child received emergency medical assessment by Suffolk Fire and Rescue personnel and was taken by ground transport to Sentara Obici Hospital as a precaution, Klink said.
