NR’s big inning pushes them past Bulldogs

The Nansemond River High School baseball team scored all 14 of its runs in the seventh inning in a 14-0 shutout win over the rival Bulldogs.

The Warriors rattled off 14 runs to close out the Bulldogs on the road Tuesday evening. They did it behind a perfect game from Caleb Pittman on the mound. He struck out 11 batters in a complete game.

The game was tied at zero through six innings before 11 different Warriors were able to touch home plate in the seventh inning. Clay Grady led the way at the plate, going 3-3 with two runs and an RBI. Landon Bonneville handled the bulk of the pitching duties for King’s Fork and took the loss on the mound.

Nansemond River completed the season sweep of the Bulldogs and have also taken the city title once again this season. The Warriors will take on Hickory High School at home Thursday at 5:30 p.m. King’s Fork will take on Lakeland High School at Lakeland Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
