Bulldogs earn first sweep

The King’s Fork High School baseball team got its first sweep of the season with its second win over rival Lakeland High School Thursday evening.

The last matchup of the season for both Lakeland and King’s Fork was a tough battle. The game went eight innings, with King’s Fork coming out the victors with a 6-3 win.

The Bulldogs took the first lead of the game in the second inning, going up 2-0. King’s Fork held the lead for three innings before a big sixth inning from Lakeland put three runs on the board.

In the seventh inning, the Bulldogs struck back, scoring a run and tying the game at three to force an eighth inning. In the final inning, the Bulldogs had their best inning putting up three runs and securing the win. Aidan Gay handled pitching duties for the Bulldogs, striking out eight in the win. Noah Boone took the loss for Lakeland, but he struck out nine in his appearance on the mound.

Alvin Boone, Landon Bonneville, Nate Varnier and Gay each had two hits for the Bulldogs. Carlin Walden went 3-4 for Lakeland.
