The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy baseball team had three players make the All-State team this season.

The Saints’ baseball season came to an end last week after a first-round exit in the state tournament. However, the team has some nice accolades to show for such a strong season.

Zac Morris, Nic Psimas and Iziah Turner were all Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division II All-State selections. Psimas and Morris were selected to the first team, while Turner was selected to the second team.

It was a strong senior campaign for Psimas and Morris. Morris had more than 20 hits and more than 10 RBIs and had a team-high 20 stolen bases. Psimas made seven appearances on the mound, striking out 34. From the plate, he had 17 hits to go with 11 RBIs.

Turner had 26 strikeouts from the mound this season.

Both Morris and Psimas will be heading to the NCAA Division I level to play baseball. Morris will play for Virginia Military Institute, and Psimas will compete for Virginia Tech.

“It was a great way to end my career,” Morris said. “I wasn’t too much focused on it, because I wanted to help my team go as far as possible, but I’m grateful for the recognition.”

NSA finished the season 10-8-1 and had several key wins this season. One of their wins came over what was the No. 1 ranked opponent at the time of the win, Greenbrier Christian Academy.
