Two people suffered non-life threatening injuries as the result of an accident Sunday evening on West Washington Street involving a Suffolk Police vehicle, according to city spokeswoman Diana Klink.
An officer driving a marked vehicle was driving east on West Washington Street when a Nissan passenger vehicle traveling west made a left turn into the path of the police vehicle, causing a collision, she said.
The police vehicle struck a utility pole following the initial impact, Klink said.
The driver of the Nissan, a 73-year-old male was treated at the scene and taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, she said, while the officer suffered a minor injury, but did not require medical transport.
The accident is still under investigation.
