Samuel R. Trent, 79, of Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, transitioned Friday, June 7, 2019, at Parham Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He was the son of the late Samuel Robert Trent Sr. and Mrs. Elizabeth Oneal Trent. Sam was married to Ethyl Dugger Trent, who preceded him in death on Dec. 20, 1999. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles J. Trent and James H. Trent.

Survivors include his loving and devoted daughter, Linda Trent, of Richmond: three sisters, Phyllis (the Rev. James) Pearson and Mary (Larry) Hancock, both of Penhook, Betty (Ernest) Hicks, of Powhatan; three brothers, Jesse Trent, Edward Trent and John Trent, all of Roanoke; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at the Poplar Mount Baptist Church in Lawrenceville (Brunswick County) on Friday June 14, 2019, with family visitation at 11 a.m. and funeral at noon.

Professional services have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home Inc., 900 E. Washington St., Suffolk.
