Police investigate Tuesday evening robberies

Suffolk Police are investigating two Tuesday evening robberies they believe to be related, according to a city press release.

The first robbery was reported at 9:14 p.m. at the 711 store located in the 800 block of Carolina Road. The second was reported at 9:58 p.m. at the Raceway store in the 1200 block of Portsmouth Boulevard.

“The preliminary investigation determined that the two incidents are believed to be connected,” the press release stated.

In both robberies, two suspects both displayed handguns, took an undisclosed amount of money and fled in a vehicle of undetermined make and model, the release stated.

No injuries were reported in either incident.

The press release described the suspects as black males with medium complexions between 5 feet, 6 inches and 5 feet, 9 inches tall. The taller of the two was described as slender with a muscular build.

The investigations are ongoing.
