Registration is open for the Home of the Brave 5K and Kids Quarter-Mile Dash set for November.
The Home of the Brave 5K and Kids Quarter-Mile Dash will be held on Nov. 9 and will begin and end at 150 N. Main St. This event is sponsored by Suffolk Parks and Recreation.
The Quarter-Mile Dash will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by the 5K at 9 a.m. The 5K course will begin on Bank Street near the courthouse, make its way past City Hall and over to Prentis Street, past the historic Seaboard Station Railroad Museum and then back by Pinner Street. Runners will enjoy the challenge of two bridges crossing over railroad tracks.
The entire course is stroller friendly, and runners are encouraged to dress in red, white and blue attire to show support for the nation’s veterans. All registered participants will receive an event T-shirt.
The 5K will have an allowed time of 90 minutes to allow walkers to finish, according to the press release, and age group and top finisher awards will be given for the 5K. This event is timed by A&R Timing.
The registration fee for the 5K is $39. The ¼ Mile Dash is open to ages 2 to 10 and has a $24 registration fee. Prices will increase on Oct. 2.
