This is an annual fundraiser for Suffolk Meals on Wheels, a 501c3 nonprofit that delivers nutritious meals to homebound residents in Suffolk and Isle of Wight County who have difficulties preparing meals for themselves.

Meals are delivered at lunchtime every Monday through Friday by volunteers. Suffolk Meals on Wheels receives neither state nor federal funding, and instead relies on support from individuals, businesses, and community organizations, according to suffolkmealsonwheels.com.

“Suffolk Meals on Wheels provides a source of daily social contact for people who would otherwise be alone,” the website states. “It also allows for earlier release from hospitals and long-term care facilities and helps in keeping elderly and disabled persons out of institutions altogether.”

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door (suggested donations).

Tickets are available at Suffolk Insurance, 202 Market St., Windsor Hardware at 5 Joyner Ave. and Farmers Bank branches in Suffolk, Windsor, Smithfield and Southampton County.

Contact Suffolk Meals on Wheels Executive Director Roseland Worrell at 934-9411 for more information on the concert and Meals on Wheels volunteer opportunities.
