Warriors take down Cavs

The Nansemond River High School boys’ volleyball team picked up a 3-0 win against its rival Lakeland High School Thursday night.

The Warriors boys’ volleyball team went 2-0 for the week with wins against Oscar Smith High School and Lakeland. Both are district opponents for the Warriors.

Against Lakeland, the Warriors took the game in straight sets in a 3-0 match. The win puts the Warriors at 2-2 on the season, and the loss puts Lakeland at 3-1 on the season.

Nansemond River has now evened its record 1-1 with city rivals. They took a loss to King’s Fork High School to begin the season. All cross-town rivals play each other twice in volleyball, so the Warriors and Cavs can still make their claim as the city champions for the 2019-2020 school year.
