Eugene Goodman, 69, of 804 Constance Road, Suffolk, died Sept. 30, 2019. He was a native of Suffolk, born and raised in the Chuckatuck area. He was the son of the late Paul C. Goodman and Mary E. Goodman.

He attended East Suffolk School. He was a member of Faith of Deliverance in Suffolk. He was a manager of several gospel groups; singing was his passion.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Gloria Goodman, of Suffolk; also left to cherish him are his children, Umar Assiddiq, of Suffolk, Eugene Goodman (Erin) of Harrisburg, Pa., Bryant Thomas (Bridget), of Portsmouth, Shun Hoggard (Lisa), of Richmond, and Javon Pegram, of Richmond, Sheranda Outlaw (Chief Apostle Brian E. Outlaw, Sr., D.D.), of Suffolk, Nakena Moody (Larry), of Portsmouth, Gabrielle Greene (Ennis), of Washington, D.C.; two brothers, Paul Goodman (Gabriella), of Kansas City, Mo., and William Goodman (Robin), of Suffolk; three sisters, Florence Stagg (Felix), of Suffolk, Florine Goodman, of Suffolk, and Pauline Walker (Andrew), of Suffolk; 25 grandchildren, Antonio Chapman, Kimberly Rooks (Travis), RaShawn Hoggard (Naudia), Shonda Boykins (JaBril), Brian Jr. (Elizabeth), JaMelvin Outlaw, Jackia Brady, Hannah, Antaniya, Aasha, Jaquanna Hoggard, Tiquan Hoggard, Ciara Goodman, P.J. Goodman, Ashlynn Goodman, Damian Moody, Demetrius Clark, LaMonie Burns, Xavier Greene, Elijah Greene, Ennis Neal Jr., Isaiah Neal, Jewel Thomas, Jakia Thomas, JaBria Thomas; nine great-grandchildren, Jalil Thomas, Jayden Lee-Outlaw, Za’riah Outlaw, Ziyare Hoggard, Zavier Hoggard, Tru Na’Sir Moody, Travis Slade, Ariyah Chapman and A’ceon Chapman; two very special goddaughters, Angela Dixon and Sharice Garrett; two great, wonderful caregivers, Debra Boone, his left and right hands, and Shondesha Goodman (niece); a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; sister-in-law and brother-in-law.

A wake will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2019, in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home Inc. A celebration of life will be held at noon, Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019, at Friendship Cathedral C.O.G.I.C., 5511 Godwin Blvd., Suffolk. He will be laid to rest in Oakland Cemetery.
