Driver Days returns this weekend with its crowd-pleasing parade, vendors and numerous family activities in the Suffolk community of Driver.

The 26th annual Driver Days fall festival will be held on Saturday and Sunday in Driver, located at 3117 Kings Highway. The festival hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

“I would describe it as a family fun event,” Festival Chair Terri Moore wrote in an email. “Something that the whole community can enjoy.”

Saturday will begin with opening ceremonies at 9:45 a.m. followed by the annual parade at 10 a.m.

“The parade is always a hit,” Moore wrote. “Different groups from the area, and organizations and the neighbors always participate. They show off their business or their talent for designing a cool ride.”

Saturday festivities will also include the Driver Days Car Show at Berea Christian Church in Driver. Registration for the car show will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

There will also be a Buffalo Wild Wings Wing Eating Contest from 11 a.m. to noon, plus a pie-eating contest.

“Pumpkin painting for the kids, wing eating, a pet costume contest,” Moore wrote. “Just lots of fun stuff.”

Sunday will feature the Sherri Parker Memorial Poker Run, the parade of bikes and the pet costume contest.

Both Saturday and Sunday will have cornhole, Hampton Roads Championship Wrestling, live performances by bands like Fox & The Bear and a plethora of vendors selling a wide range of wares.

“Our vendors will have crafts, jewelry, furniture, direct sale items and just about anything you can think of,” Moore wrote.
