Tickets still available for oyster roast

The North Suffolk Rotary Club’s annual oyster roast will return with more oysters and libations on Wednesday, and there are still tickets left available to enjoy the fun. The annual oyster roast will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Rose Family Farm, 6045 Everets Road.

Fellowship by the beer trucks will be from 3 to 4 p.m., along with wine and non-alcoholic drinks. Roasted oysters will be served by the wheelbarrow-load from 4 to 6 p.m.

These oysters will be roasted on a concrete and steel grill until they’re steamed and ready, then volunteers will bring them by wheelbarrow to patrons’ tables.

“We are looking at probably 20 bushels (of oysters),” said North Suffolk Rotary Club President Tom Powell.

The band “StOLEN” will be this year’s live entertainment with local favorite Win Winslow, as attendees enjoy good company and great food, with plenty of crackers and cocktail sauce to go around.

“There’s good conversation, and obviously good food and fellowship as well,” Powell said.

Tickets are limited to 450 this year, with less than 100 left as of Thursday evening. The money raised for this event will go directly to local charities and organizations, such as the Coalition Against Poverty in Suffolk and the Western Tidewater Free Clinic.

Tickets are $35 each and can be purchased online at northsuffolkrotary.com/oyster-roast.
