Clifton Sexton

Mr. Clifton Sexton, affectionately known as “Butch,” was called peacefully home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019.  He was born on Nov. 16, 1949, in Rich Square, N.C., to the late George and Louise Sexton.

Butch was a 1969 graduate of W.C. Creecy High School, and he later retired from Newport News Shipyard after 40 years of dedicated service.

Butch leaves behind his devoted wife and his caregiver, Eleanor Sexton, of 23 years of marriage; two sons, Roderic White (Linda) and Cedric Dildy; five grandchildren; two siblings, James Sexton (Gloria), Bettie Moore (Bernard) and Peter Sexton (Donna); brother-in-law, Thomas White; one aunt, Mrs. Cora Bell Ward; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A visitation will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The family will receive family and friends at the home of Mrs. Sexton at 206 Columbus Ave. at all other times. A home going celebration service will take place at 11 a.m. Dec. 3, 2019, at United Full Gospel Revival Center, and he will be laid to rest at Carver Memorial Cemetery.
